Quenching A Thirst With Differential Equations
Quenching a Thirst with Differential Equations
Author: Ehrismann, Martin
College Mathematics Journal, Vol. 25, no. 5, pp. 413-418, 1994.
Ehrismann uses differential equations to model the behavior of carbon dioxide bubbles in a glass of beer. A sophisticated model is developed, but as is often the case, its predictions don't match experimental data. The author then changes assumptions about the drag force and gets better results.
